“Teen Mom 2” shows that not only is young parenthood really hard, but relationships can be pretty challenging as well. To talk about the dramas experienced by these mamas, and the importance of being in a healthy relationship, we sat down with Kailyn, Leah, Jenelle and Chelsea.
Leah, who recently divorced Corey, talks about wanting to make a relationship last when you’ve had kids with someone, but how that doesn’t always work out. Kailyn chimes in to talk about the struggles of juggling so many things as a young mom — kid(s), work, school, relationships and me-time.
Chelsea, who’s had many ups and downs with on-again-off-again bf Adam, had some sage advice. “If you’re not happy with yourself, then you’re not going to be happy in a relationship,” she says. “When you’re not happy with yourself, and you start dating someone that’s going to put you down all the time, you start to believe all the mean things that they say about you. And so you just have to get out and find yourself and be comfortable with yourself. And then one day you’ll find someone that makes you happy…”
“Guys aren’t supposed to make you cry, they’re supposed to make you smile,” Jenelle pipes up. ’Course, that goes both ways, and whether you’re in a relationship with a guy or a girl, what matters is that it’s an emotionally, physically and mentally healthy relationship.
