Jennifer Lawrence, named one of Barbara Walters’ “10 Most Fascinating People of 2013,” has come a long way from her days as a young girl raised in Kentucky. But J-Law is more than just a Hollywood star, she’s also a small-town girl who likes to keep it real, and we love her for that, which is why she’s today’s #ThrowbackThursday
When Barbara’s “10 Most Fascinating People of 2013” aired Wednesday night, we saw Miley talkin’ twerking (shocking), Hillary Clinton in the No. 1 most fascinating spot, Babs talking Kimye and a fabulous interview with my personal fave, Jennifer Lawrence!
As Jennifer sat across from the iconic Barbara Walters, she was open and honest about her rise to fame and the dark side that often follows. She defined a “perfect day” to Barbara as a day that she could walk and get coffee without wearing giant sunglasses and smiling making eye contact as she parades down the street. In reality, as one of the most recognizable actresses of 2013, this is clearly not as easy as one would think.
As people become infatuated with the celebrity side of fame, said Jennifer, they often forget that she is also human. Jennifer told Babs, “You feel like a zoo animal or something. I don’t know what it is. It’s something in somebody’s eyes. It’s like not connecting, not making eye contact sometimes” This def would get frustrating, but if you ever need a BFF to talk about our mutual love of pizza, cats and the gross pressures Hollywood often exudes, I got yo back!
During Jennifer’s interview, she also brought up her passion to promote positivity to the younger generation. She opened up to Barbara, revealing, “I just think it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV. The media needs to take responsibility for the effect that it has on our younger generation, on these girls who are watching these television shows, and picking up how to talk and how to be cool.”
We couldn’t agree more! We can’t wait to see what Jennifer does in 2014 — and beyond!
