Everything seemed to work out for JLo and Xtina, so it's looking like nabbing A-listers as judges is now a thing. A big thing! This winter, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey are set to hit the "American Idol" judges' table while Usher and Shakira will hit "The Voice." The judges will go head-to-head on seperate networks, but we can't wait for that -- so we've got them facing off...now.

Jay-Z certainly isn't the only one standing with President Barack Obama on same-sex marriage. Just a few weeks ago, we asked out-and-proud "American Idol" alum Adam Lambert, whose sophomore album Trespassing is out now, about how he felt toward the direction LGBT rights was headed in. His word: hopefully marriage equality moves forward. We can only imagine how he reacted to the President's announcement! (Like this, perhaps?)

In her live performance of "Part of Me" on "American Idol" last night, Katy Perry debuted the U.S. government’s new secret weapon: female soldiers in very short camo shorts. With these ladies on the front lines, our enemies will surely surrender with no shots fired. Okay, maybe not, but Katy did recently show us what it means to be a true American idol when she visited the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Some of the best things EVER are green: Jennifer Lopez's infamous Grammy dress, Jennifer Lopez's BAFTA dress, and trees -- just to name a few. This week, the "American Idol" top 7 finalists celebrated the latter and all things environment in celebration of Earth Day (this Sunday, April 22). In separate videos posted on the "Idol" website, the contestants agreed is was a very important day for all of us, and put the mic down to tell us why.

Many "American Idol" finalists who've fallen short of the crown have gone on to do big things. Need we say more than these two words: Jennifer Hudson? Prob not, but we will. Three other "Idol" alums worth noting: Season 5's Elliott Yamin, Season 6's Melinda Dolittle, and Season 7's Jason Castro are now using their voice off the "AI" stage and in Washington, D.C. to talk up American support for the fight against malaria to Congress with Malaria No More.

The 'American Idol' Season 11 Auditions: Our Favorite Performances With A Message

The contestants who walked (read: ran and jumped onto Ryan Seacrest) out of the American Idol audition room with a golden ticket are in Los Angeles tonight as Hollywood Week kicks off. The 11th season of the show saw quite the diverse array of artists come in front of the judges. Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, and Jennifer Lopez had their favorites. Among them, college crooner Kyle Crews, single mother of 1 Ashley Robles, and THE Phillip Phillips. All three are certainly contenders, but we've got our eyes (and ears) on another five.
