Sweet Tweet: P!nk + PETA Release Heartfelt Vid To Save NYC Horses

P!nk and PETA are really working hard to end the New York City carriage business, and they’ve gathered a big group of celebs for a new video about it.

P!nk Tweeted:

The vid is on PETA’s page, and here’s a fair warning: there are some upsetting images in it. P!nk, Kathy Najimy, Wendy Williams, Dave Navarro, Alicia Silverstone, Pamela Anderson and others all speak in the video, talking about why they think this business needs to end.

+ Watch PETA’s new video about NYC’s carriage horses.

“Every time I see a horse-drawn carriage with [the horse's] nose in the tailpipe of a cab and the blinders on and all the pollution and the congestion and the traffic and the noise, it just hurts my heart,” P!nk says.

In the past two years alone there have been more than 12 accidents, and these have resulted in dead horses and hospitalized people.

At night, the horses are put in small cement blocks. And when they’re no longer useful for driving carriages, they’re often sent to a slaughterhouse.

That’s why P!nk and the other celebs in this vid are so behind New York City Mayor de Blasio’s plan to phase out this business. Not only is Mayor de Blasio determined to get the horses out of the city and to good homes, but he also wants to replace the carriages with a business of driving people around in eco-friendly classic cars. That way the people who work in the carriage business will have a new way to make money and won’t be sent back to square one.

P!nk has already promised to adopt one of the carriage horses after the mayor implements his plan, and let’s see if these any other celebs step up and become horse owners, too!
