The “Venus” singer, who is now referring to herself as “Goddess of Love” on Twitter, said it’s all about spreading the love, baby:
What an honor to be nominated for another @GLAAD Media Award! I will continue to spread love with every invention. Monsters and I care! <3— Goddess of Love (@ladygaga) January 31, 2014
Lady Gaga is nominated for Outstanding Music Artist, and she’s running against Elton John, Goldfrapp, Tegan and Sara and Vampire Weekend.
There are a ton of categories for nominations, including Outstanding Film Wide Release, Outstanding Reality Program, Outstanding TV Journalism Segment and Outstanding Comic Book. The whole idea of the GLAAD Media Awards is to reward the media for “fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.”
So, yeah, since Lady Gaga is so into standing up for the LGBTQ community, you can see why she’d get the GLAAD nod, and why she’d be so happy about it. Lady Gaga has won GLAAD Media Awards before (I mean, how could “Born This Way,” not win, ya know?).
This year the awards will be taking place in Los Angeles on April 12 and New York City on May 3, so we’ve got to wait until spring to see who gets the prize for Outstanding Music Artist. Still, this ought to be one of those “it’s just an honor to be nominated” things, because all these artists are making a diff for the LGBTQ community.
