Yesterday was World AIDS Day, a day to spread awareness and compassion on the issue of HIV/AIDS. Many celebs used social media to talk about it, and we’ve collected some of their most important Tweets!

HIV/AIDS activist Alicia Keys Tweeted about an article she wrote for the Huffington Post:

In the article, she wrote, “We are on the cusp of ensuring everyone in the world living with HIV receives the treatment they need to survive. Science is showing signs this would control the pandemic once and for all. Someone fire up the rocket boosters, because this is possible and possible within the next decade.”

She ended it by suggesting some orgs people can get involved in, including Keep a Child Alive, Black AIDS Institute and Amfar.

Along with the orgs Alicia named, (RED) is an excellent one to get involved with. Elizabeth Banks brought them up in her Tweet, showing how you can buy different merchandise from them to help the cause:

Sophia Bush also brought up (RED) and specifically mentioned the org’s new album, which has music from Katy Perry, Calvin Harris and Madonna:

Sometimes putting a face to a story makes it much more real, so Andrew Jenks posed with a boy who lost his parents to AIDS. He’s one of millions who’s been orphaned by the disease:

Each year World AIDS Day wants to do more good in stopping the stigma, getting more help to those who need it, and preventing more people from contracting HIV/AIDS.
