Tom Hiddleston may be nominated for Best Villain at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, but it turns out he’s a super sweet guy in real life. He’s a big supporter of UNICEF and he’s asking his fans to help young refugees from Syria.

The nominee Tweeted:

Unfortunately, Tom can’t call in The Avengers to take care of this crisis. However, it is possible for YOU to help. More than a million people have rushed out of Syria to escape the violence going on there, and about half of them are kids. The children have already witnessed horrific things, and UNICEF is working to make sure they receive vital things like medical treatment, food, water and clothing.

The British actor’s link leads you to UNICEF UK, so if you’re wanting to help but intimidated by the pound signs, no worries. UNICEF US is also on this, so you can donate dollars instead.

This def isn’t Tom’s first foray into helping UNICEF. He also visited Guinea in West Africa to help the lil ones, and he blogged about it for awareness. It goes to show he’s called an “actor” for a reason — behind Loki’s supervillainous bad-assery there’s a mortal man working to make the world a better place!

In the end, it’s up to you which actor or actress you want to win for Best Villain, but we can’t encourage you enough to follow the real Tom’s lead in helping others. He’s a hero worthy of a Marvel comic!
