While 2013 may have been a difficult year for Zac Efron (rehab/jaw wired shut), he seems to be ending the year on a positive note! The hunk graced his heavenly presence at a Lakers game on Dec 20th, rocking’ a beanie, signature shades, as well as a particular necklace that caught our attention.
Now, it isn’t just an ordinary necklace, but a six-month sobriety chip! Earlier this year the actor checked himself into rehab (twice), but since leaving, he seems to be in a much better place. After finishing his stint in rehab, the actor took a trip with his dad to Peru, and after returning, he Tweeted to his fans, “Hey guys! Just returned from an incredible trip to Peru with my dad and wanted to thank you all for your support these past few weeks…means the world to me. Love you guys!”

If you are unfamiliar as to why these necklace ‘chips’ are so important, let me explain! With each month comes a new chip, and each color represents the amount of time a person has been living a sober life. So, next month keep your eye out for Zac wearing a copper chip, as that will be his next chip to add to the collection. After a year of sobriety and still attending AA, he will receive a bronze coin in celebration of the big accomplishment.
We commend Zac on his hard work. If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse, head to HalfOfUs.com for help.
