Avon advertises itself as “the company for women,” and it understands that violence against women is a very real threat. During the 16 Days of Activism, which fights gender violence, Megan Fox is supporting Avon Foundation’s #SeeTheSigns campaign.
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a campaign that got started in 1991, and to date about 190 different nations have taken part. 1 out of 3 women will face violence and abuse at some point during her lifetime, and no form of abuse should be ignored or covered up. “Without conversations, the issue of domestic violence remains hidden,” Megan said in a special video she recorded.
From November 25 through December 10, Avon will be posting signs of domestic violence on FB. This is meant to educate people, help them spot the signs and help women get out of abusive relationships.
Megan’s got a few tips on how you can get involved in this important issue. One, you can share info about #SeeTheSigns on social media to get people talking. Two, speak with your friends and members of your fam if you’re worried their significant others might be abusing them. Three, donate to the National Domestic Violence Hotline on Giving Tuesday, which is December 3. Next month, the Avon Foundation will be matching gifts made directly to the hotline. This hotline can literally save women’s lives.
“This holiday season, the most meaningful gift we can give our loved ones is a future free from violence,” Megan said. “Together, we can make a lasting impact.”
