AnnaLynne McCord speaks up on issues like human trafficking and animal welfare, and this past week she’s really been using social media as an outlet to talk about child abuse and how it needs to end.
On Saturday AnnaLynne shared this pic on Instagram, writing, “#voiceforthevoiceless @WarAgainstAbuse @craigshayne117 #WEWILLBEHEARD everyone who wants to join me – take ur own snap, make it your status pic and tweet it to me so I can RT you !”
@WarAgainstAbuse is the handle for the group War Against Child Abuse (W.A.C.A), which works to put an end to the abuse of children. While AnnaLynne is always caring about those in need, her recent talk about child abuse seems to have been triggered by a bill introduced in Kansas that would make it legal for parents and other adults to hit children (and high school students over the age of 18) to the point of bruising.
At the time, AnnaLynne Tweeted this response, calling out the representative who was backing this kind of treatment toward children:
I'm on a tirade... BECAUSE MY BLOOD IS BOILING!!! I'm trying to fight for victims of abuse and @RepFinney wants to make more of them!!!— AnnaLynne McCord (@IAMannalynnemcc) February 19, 2014
AnnaLynne is far from the only person outraged by the bill. In fact, the bill won’t even make it as far as getting a hearing and has been declared dead.
The actress has thanked W.A.C.A for their work and talked to them about why this issue matters to much to her. W.A.C.A. thanked her back for her bravery and activism:
@IAMannalynnemcc it must be extremely hard to say this. But by bringing awareness to silent epidemic you are my hero!!— W.A.C.A. (@WarAgainstABUSE) February 19, 2014
Child abuse is never okay, and by speaking up, spreading awareness and reporting it, we can all make a difference.
