Selena Gomez Is Just Like Us: “Way Stressed” After A Breakup

Breakups are painful enough as it is, so imagine going through one in the public eye! In an E! special with Ryan Seacrest, airing this Sunday, Selena Gomez discusses the stress of her highly publicized split from Justin Bieber.

“I’m sure you could actually see those pictures of me being, like, way stressed out about it,” says Selena. “And it’s hard, because what do you do? Do you just wanna sit in your house and hide and not go anywhere?”

The most important thing to remember when going through breakups is that, painful as they may be, they’re a totally normal part of dating life. Even Selena acknowledged that her stress was all part of the healing process. “I’m a kid, and a breakup is normal. I have to go through the emotions and feel it out. I’m doing my own thing, being with my friends, and he’s doing very well, too.”

Friendship is often the best cure for heartbreak. If you’re having a hard time getting over your ex, talk it through with the people who care about you. Or use your friends in another way — to distract yourself from unnecessary thoughts with a night of fun and dancing! Or, at the very least, find a way to avoid being all up on your ex’s social media pages until you’ve come to terms with the split. Trust me, the last thing you want to see are insta-babes on his or her Instagram.

Most importantly, remember that there are billions of other people in the world, and you will love and be loved again. And as much as we want to figure everything out for ourselves, sometimes we need the help of a pro.
