Selena Gomez has done a lot of amazing things in her life (philanthropy, singing, acting, Justin Bieber), but she has never had a No. 1 single…until now! Her catchy tune “Come & Get It” just topped the Billboard charts, and guys, her reaction to the news is so. freakin’. adorable.
I’ll admit it. I tried really hard not to like Selena or her music when she first blew up. Maybe I was just jealous of a 12-year-old having way more money than I do, or maybe I was going through an obnoxious, hipster, “I only listen to bands you’ve never heard of — on vinyl” phase. But, like most people, I can’t help but dance whenever I hear “Come & Get It.” And now, seeing how modestly she reacted to the news of it topping the charts, I think I can finally call myself a fan.
Selena has always been No. 1 in MTV Act’s eyes, though! She’s already known for repping UNICEF and helping the homeless, and now she’s joining Summer of Hope campaign to raise funds for cancer, diabetes and HIV/AIDS research. “This summer, bring hope to those who need it,” she Tweeted last Friday.” Join me & help @cityofhope fight cancer.”
To join the movement, Tweet about it with the hashtag #SummerofHope, or donate $25 or more to download Songs of Summer — a compilation of summer jams by The Beach Boys, Michael Jackson and many others — fo’ free! “If you’re ready, come and get it!”
