When you look up hilarious in the dictionary, Amy Poehler‘s photo will be next to the definition. And you might just also find her photo next to the wordcompassionate, after ringing in 2013 in Haiti.
The “Parks and Recreation” star volunteered with the Worldwide Orphans Foundation, which is a fabulous charity transforming the lives of orphans all over the world. According to the org, there are around 153 million orphans in the world today. Since the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, 250,000 children have become orphaned. Hurricane Sandy also swept through the area this summer, reeking havoc, ruining 70% of the countries crops according to the Guardian, and once again leaving Haiti in a state of turmoil. On the bright side, we have incredible charities like WOF working to re-build and inspire.
Amy kicked off her year in such a positive way, and 2013 will only get bigger. She will be adding yet another impressive title to her amazinggg resume quite soon: co-host of this year’s Golden Globes! Amy will be co-hosting with her “Saturday Night Live” partner-in-crime
Sarah Palin Tina Fey! In a new promo for the Globes, Fey joked,”It’s a sloppy, loud party — and that seemed like our kind of thing.” This is the 70th year, so it’s quite a big deal! Will you be watching?
