Our 5 Picks For MAC’s Next Campaign

As a self-confessed lipstick addict, I know a thing or two about MAC Cosmetics. One of my favorite things about the brand is that I’m continually shocked and (pleasantly) surprised by the choice of “faces” for the brand’s various campaigns and collections.

From Beth Ditto to Iris Apfel, MAC has proven time and time again that the brand gives good (and unconventional) face. In a brilliant move, MAC tapped Serbian figure competitor Jelena Abbou to serve as the face – er, body – for the brand’s new Strength collection.

Besides the flawless makeup, a given, the most striking thing about the new ad is Abbou’s physique. The ad urges the shoppers to “Flex your femininity with a colour collection that’s fearless, elegant and strong. Strike a powerful pose, stand out, redefine the notion of beauty — and do it with strength too irresistible to ignore.”

Talk about too irresistible to ignore — who could think Abbou is anything other than utterly stunning in these ads?

Although MAC has done a fantastic job choosing the best faces for its collections, here are my suggestions for MAC’s next groundbreaking campaign:

+ Rebel Wilson

She’s a former bridesmaid, has proven her a capella chops and is hosting the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 14. If anyone knows how to stand out, it’s Rebel Wilson. If Wilson’s star continues to rise at this meteoric rate, I think MAC should go all out and make her the face of a campaign we all know she’d rock: Rebellious.

+ Mindy Kaling

She was the first female writer hired to “The Office” and is the show runner of her new primetime show (aptly titled, “The Mindy Project”).  We’re not sure why she thinks everyone is hanging out without her, but one thing is clear: Mindy would rock her own campaign — she’s independent, smart, hilarious and relatable.

+ Lena Dunham

I KNOW we see a lot of side by side comparisons of Mindy and Lena being the voice of #RealTalk for real women but it’s true!!!! “Girls” will (finally) be back on the air this Sunday, January 13, which means we’ll be seeing a lot more of the actress, writer and producer. This talented 26-year-old rocks tattoos, eats cake (sometimes naked) and feels our post-college pain. Well at least Lena’s character, Hannah does. There’s a lot of critics about Lena making it big so young in life but we applaud her mega success and think she’ll be a great face for MAC.

+ Lolo Jones

Lolo Jones is an Olympic hurdler who, you might have noticed via Twitter, has recently taken up bobsledding. Although any number of athletes would be a good fit for a campaign, I think Lolo deserves the honors. She may not have won gold in London, but she always keeps it real:  admitting that she’s a self Googler as well as staying a virgin for spiritual reasons and admitting “it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life — harder than training for the Olympics, harder than graduating from college.” This Olympian has strength inside and out!

+ Lauren Scruggs

Next time you don’t feel like hitting the gym, use Lauren Scruggs as your motivation.  Scruggs went from fashion blogger to inspiration overnight. She walked into a spinning plane propeller in 2011 that left her with a brain injury, loss of her left hand and left eye.  She didn’t give up and moved forward in her life with a healthy outlook saying she’s thankful for her life. Although these days she’s working to get her strength back with intense physical therapy workouts, I’d love to see Scruggs add a MAC campaign to her fashion resume.
