We are just days away from Hollywood’s biggest night, as the 86th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 2! So we decided to highlight our fave nominees who already deserve a gold statuette for having enormous hearts.
+ Matthew McConaughey
As Ron Woodroof in “Dallas Buyers Club,” Best Actor nominee Matthew captivated audiences with the best performance of his career. Offscreen, we have continued to be captivated by his dedication to his charity, Just Keep Livin Foundation. The mission behind his cause is to empower young teens to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle! Fun fact: “Just Keep Livin” was a famous line that Matthew said 21 YEARS AGO in the film “Dazed and Confused.”
+ Leonardo DiCaprio
Up against Matthew is the always-dapper Leo! Nominated for his role in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” Leo is a majah animal advocate, making it reason number 2,342 we love him so much. From saving the tigers to advocating for the end of the shark fin trade, he always impresses us!
+ Meryl Streep
Meryl once again showed the world just how talented she in “August: Osage County.” Fun fact: She’s received the most Oscar nominations for an actress — 18! And the Best Actress nominee is SUCH a class act! In 2012, it was revealed she has been giving millions to charity without publicly taking credit!
+ Sandra Bullock
Sandra kept us on the edge of our seat in “Gravity” and IRL she keeps us clapping for more. When it comes to giving back, the Best Actress nominee has helped one New Orleans high school rise above defeat and transform into a complete success.
+ Bradley Cooper
Bradley is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in
The Hangover Part III “American Hustle,” and offscreen, he’s one of Hollywood’s kindest do-gooders. In 2011 it was reported that Bradley purchased thousands of dollars worth of winter clothing for the homeless in Philadelphia.
+ Jared Leto
After watching his phenom role in “Dallas Buyers Club,” and obsessing over Jared’s ombre hair, I have come to the conclusion he may be the sexiest human to ever roam the earth. When Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines, Jared used his celebrity platform to rally fans together to help the victims of the storm. Ahh, could he be any more perfect? It is obvious I want him to win Best Supporting Actor?
+ Lupita Nyong’o
Best Supporting Actress nominee Lupita skyrocketed to stardom after the world watched her incredible performance in “12 Years a Slave.” With her newfound fame, the star has already began using her platform for positive change. Lupita attended a charity event in NYC to help raise awareness and money for HIV/AIDS.
From his Oscar nom for Best Original Song to his famous hat, 2014 is looking to be the HAPPIEST year for Pharrell! Like Sandra, Pharrell is also a champion for education. In a fabulous op-ed piece, he showed the world he isn’t just a talented singer, but a very smart man trying to make a difference!
+ Michael Fassbender
The Best Supporting Actor nominee may have played a brutal plantation owner in “12 Years A Slave” but IRL he is far from that vicious character. While filming a movie with Ryan Gosling (OMG!) the two stopped by a charity event benefiting deaf students.
+ Jonah Hill
Saying a big F–K YOU to cancer is a big part of Jonah’s philanthropy platform. The Best Support Actor nominee launched a Crowdrise page to help raise fund benefiting FCancer! He said, “Early detection is the only cure that we have. Humor is kind of a big part of my life, and this awesome charity uses humor to teach people really important s–t about cancer.”
