The Tweet continues “Louis Rams” (he almost fit in all in the 140 character limit!) and it has this emotional video.
In it, we see Michael learn that he’s been drafted and kiss his boyfriend. You can totally see just how much getting drafted matters to Michael and that his dreams are coming true. Lance also retweeted this super-awesome Tweet Michael sent out:
Thank you to the St. Louis Rams and the whole city of St. Louis. I’m using every once of this to achieve greatness!! pic.twitter.com/QESdOJVzsw

John Legend pretty much nailed how important this sports story is and what it means for the world of sports:
Congratulations to Michael Sam. It’s a victory for LOVE.

With Michael Sam and Jason Collins, we’re getting more openly gay players in professional sports. The world of sports hasn’t always been seen as being accepting of gay people (and many gay athletes can share stories about still facing homophobia). But with Jason and Michael, and all the support we’re seeing them get, the tides seem to be turning. Just as the country is getting more open-minded about LGBTQ rights, the sports world is as well.
Even the White House spoke up about Michael’s great news, saying, “The President congratulates Michael Sam, the Rams and the NFL for taking an important step forward in our Nation’s journey. From the playing field to the corporate boardroom, LGBT Americans prove everyday that you should be judged by what you do and not who you are.”
