Rock on, ladies! This May fashion mag ELLE will have its annual Women in Music issue, and to celebrate it’s putting on a private concert on April 11. People attending get to hear awesome music and hang out with cool singers, but there’s also a charity angle thrown in. Money earned there will go to the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.
For years music programs have been cut in public schools because they’re not “important.” WTF, right? Well, Save the Music is all about showing how helpful musical education can be and keeping it in schools. And I bet the ladies being honored in the May issue would care about that!
So what’s happening April 11? Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Oh Land and others will be at the Hollywood event, and ELLE editor-in-chief Robbie Myers said, “ELLE has long celebrated women who lead and make a meaningful impact on the culture, like those featured in this year’s Women in Music issue and at ELLE.com. We are thrilled to share their talent with our readers, and to bring the pages of our May issue to life through the event.”
But if you’re not able to go (and, sadly, most of us aren’t), you can still pick up the May issue of ELLE to learn more about Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson (another big supporter of VH1 Save the Music) and other super women in music. And keep supporting ladies who rock!
