Jamie Oliver is a true kitchen crusader and a total charmer. We know because we sat down with him just after his first-ever Food Revolution Day and not only were we completely inspired by his passion for good food, but but we thought he was pretty yummy, too. (He’s happily taken.) I mean, rumpled hair with that accent and those culinary skillz?! Gimme a break. (But not a Kit-Kat, we want a piece of locally harvested fruit.)
For serious, Jamie’s dream of a world where processed foods don’t rule our plates -- especially the ones in your school cafeteria -- is a super important one. Childhood obesity in the U.S. has more than tripled in the past 30 years and Jamie’s home country of U.K. is in a similarly overweight boat, so we've got to start making changes to our daily diets or pay the price. And it's not cheap -- the effects of an obese population on our healthcare costs taxpayers an estimated $190 million!
So what does "The Naked Chef" suggest young people do to turn this bad news grub bus around? We've got to get rid of rubbish food (that's British for "crap") and demand better options! We need nutrition, not nasty additives -- and it's "da youf" who will make it happen.
Still not convinced this whole Food Revolution is for you? Welllll, ladies and gents, Jamie wants y'all to know that gettin' busy in the kitchen can help ya get busy in other areas of your life...
Finally, we had to ask this compassionate chef which haute tunes are cookin' on his playlist -- check out what Jamie is serving up on his musical buffet!
Bet you can hardly wait to bust out that spatula now that Jamie reminded you how powerful a well-cooked meal can be for your health...and your love life! So take Action in YOUR kitchen and cafeteria -- be a foodie freedom fighter!
