Your No. 2 pencils are all sharpened and ready to work overtime, but there’s still one glaring gap in your fall class schedule: the internship. Need to fill a few hours getting some job prep in? We’ve got a short list to get your wheels turning.

Deadlines are fast approaching, but we’ve got a few faves for you, starting with: us!

+ MTV Public Affairs department — you know, the office that brings you all this Act-worthy pro-social news, and campaigns like It’s Your (Sex) Life and A Thin Line. Help use MTV’s superpowers for good (and see the inner workings of the network while you’re at it). Email us at act (at) mtv.com with your resume and we’ll take a peek!

DoSomething.org interns get in on all of the action — planning bootcamps, cranking out blog posts, making mouths water at brownie bake-offs …

+ There are well over 5,000 internship opportunities posted on Idealist.org. Just enter your field of interest and your location and apply for one that suits you best.

+ Are you a nature lover? The World Wildlife Fund is still accepting applications for a few of its Fall 2011 internships — but hurry! Deadlines are wrapping up fast!

Human Rights Watch is accepting applications (like, now) for several incredible opportunities in offices around the world. Check it out.

Know of another org you’re crazy about? Give it a search and check for opportunities. Even if the Fall 2011 window is closed, you can often start prepping for spring. Take Greenpeace (national), for example, or GOOD (NY/LA).

Happy hunting!
