To Write Love on Her Arms founder Jamie Tworkowski and mental health activist Kevin Breel have a lot in common. Both Tworkowski and Breel have openly admitted to struggling with depression, and both know what it’s like to have a story they’ve told go viral. In a new video, “One on One: An Honest Conversation,” the duo sat down to have a heart-to-heart about their shared experiences.
TWLOHA will celebrate turning 8 years old in 2014, which means the organization has been helping people who struggle with depression, self-injury, addiction and suicide for almost a decade now.
Breel, however, is relatively new to the spotlight. Earlier this year, the now 20-year-old Breel gave an inspired TED Talk, “Confessions of a Depressed Comic,” which quickly garnered more than 2 millions views online.
What makes “One on One” so riveting is that it documents an honest conversation between two young, well-known men who have no qualms about being open and vulnerable about what they’re struggling with, what frightens them and what they hope for in their wildest dreams.

During his TED Talk in May, Breel emphasized the need to “stop the silence,” saying we need to “take a look at the truth and start talking because the only way we’re going to beat a problem that people are battling alone is by standing strong together.” Although “One on One” is just one conversation between two new friends, it will hopefully serve as the inspiration for many people to come together and share their truths.
