Remember way back when, how we nudged you to check out the Long Branch Middle School remix of Enrique Iglasias's song "We Like It,"--renaming it "We'll Stop It"--and you did, and you were totally blown away and started following those Long Branchers in their campaign to kick bullying's butt?
I'll give you a moment to catch up, should you need it...[You are watching that video right now, yeah? Pretty sweet, huh?]
Now that we're all on the same page, you won't be surprised to hear that the "Anti-Bullying Crew" is gaining momentum and at it again. Enrique Iglesias, who not only gave the kids the rights to use his song but went a step further and promoted the heck out of their cover, and Michelle Obama, who got a surprise serenade on the street as she left an interview at ABC Studios back in February, instantly became fans. They've performed for big anti-bully rallies and events. So what's next on the crusaders' schedule?
This Fourth of July, the students will take Washington, D.C., by storm, checking out our nation's capital and spreading the good word. Prez Obama and the First Lady invited the students there to get a tour of the White House as a thank-you for all that they've been doing to impact the way young people look at bullying, giving a victim's POV, then busting into a chorus that makes us all wanna take action--and, you know, dance in the halls.
Thanks, Long Branchers, for reminding us that with young people like you making noise, the land of the free and the home of the brave is in good hands.
Have a safe and happy holiday!
