Young Hollywood’s brightest stars recently came together in celebration of Variety’s Power of Youth. The event recognized some of our favorite under 25ers for their dedication to philanthropic causes.
Amongst the honorees was Whaleman Foundation spokesperson, Hayden Panettiere. The “Scream 4” star joined forces with the foundation dedicated to preserving and protecting dolphins, whales, and their ocean habitat back when she was just 15 years old.
“If all life on land was whipped out, it would only be a matter of time before life reemerged from the ocean but if all life in the ocean was whipped out we would cease to exist at some point” the now 22-year-old said at the Variety event. “It’s a wild thing but you don’t really think about how important the ocean is.”
Also in attendance was True Grit’s Hailee Steinfeld who credits costar Jeff Bridges for her involvement with No Kid Hungry, a movement committed to ending childhood hunger in America by 2015. “He’s the national spokesperson for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry” said the 14-year-old starlet. "He would mention it when we were onset filming and didn’t have to mention much for me to be engaged in what he was saying. The fact that there are 16 million kids here in America struggling with hunger is amazing and it shouldn’t be like that."
