Ne-Yo's fifth album title, R.E.D., is an acronym for "Realizing Every Dream," and since 2007, Ne-Yo and his business partner Raynell Hay have been helping disadvantaged youth realize theirs. We recently sat down with the talented singer and actor to discuss his organization — The Compound Foundation — and why it is so important to him.

I was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica, the oldest of four children (and the only girl). I was raised by a single mother in a religious Christian household in a poor neighborhood in Kingston. Growing up, I knew that there was something different about me long before I had the language to name that difference.
