Our gold eyeliner is smeared, our fire-inspired nail polish is chipped, we’re running solely on iced coffee, but your exhilarated and exhausted correspondents have made it back from their midnight Hunger Games screenings mostly all in one piece. Here in New York, I was lucky enough to take in the film at a screening hosted by the Hob, the leading Hunger Games fan site.

Lots of special days around the corner, we hear. For one, today is World Water Day! Also, after delaying its release, Adam Lambert is putting the final touches on his sophomore album, "Trespassing," and nearing a release date -- Glamberts rejoice! Plenty of you have special days around the corner, too -- birthdays to be exact -- and Adam wants you to donate your birthday to charity:water like he has the past two years.

You get up, you take a shower, you have a drink of water, you flush the toilet...all normal, everyday things, right? Unfortunately, wrong. Okay, some of us are lucky and have plenty of fresh water, so it’s hard to imagine that many people in the world don’t. And on World Water Day, celebs like Adele want to spread the word so we can help those in need.

With seventy-five percent of the earth and three-quarters of our bodies made up of water, you’d think there’d be plenty to go around then, huh? On the contrary, there is a scarcity of water across the globe. More than one billion people lack an essential supply of water, and 1.5 million children die every year as a result. This is why the United Nations General Assembly designated today, March 22, World Water Day.

Yes, U2 are the kings of the power anthem. They are living legends. They have won 22 Grammys, sold over 150 million records and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (the first year they were eligible for induction). Could this band get any greater?! Well, obvi. They’re also known for their effective philanthropy work. Bono is one of the biggest AIDS activists out there. The Edge is also involved with giving back -- he’s co-founder of Music Rising, an org that replaces music instruments lost or destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. He’s also the creator of a very touching documentary airing on MTV tonight at 8/7c, called “The Break” about youth homelessness.

While girlfriend Selena Gomez tweeted out nothing but birthday love for her "best friend in the world," the man of honor had his eyes on an ambitous b-day prize: to break the world record for the trending-est (yup, made it up) Twitter topic in a day ... while helping to make the world a better place in the process. To people experiencing homelessness, “getting back on their feet” might mean finding a good job, signing a new lease, saving enough money for a deposit. Or, as young athlete and advocate Anne Mahlum explains, it might be quite literal: lacing up, standing up and hitting the road running. Her organization, Back on My Feet, helps participants find physical, mental and emotional strength by running -- an equalizing activity that favors speed and style, not socioeconomics.
