If you've been spearheading a strong initiative on campus, you could be one of five teams to talk shop about your game-changing project AT THE WHITE HOUSE. Some time ago, we gave you a heads up but this week is your last chance to apply!
"All Across America, college and university students are helping our country out-innovate, out-educate, and out-build the rest of the world," said President Barack Obama in introducing the Campus Champions of Change contest. "I hope this challenge shines a light on their efforts, and inspires Americans of all ages to get involved in their communities."
Here's how it works:
+ Your project. Be sure to submit it by 11:59pm on this Friday, December 9. Answer three essay questions about your project and upload photos or videos that demonstrate your project's impact.
+ 15 finalists. After applications close on December 9, judges will narrow the list down to 15 finalists. The contest then turns into a mini-election of sorts, in which the public gets to vote on their fave project.
+ 5 honorees. The five teams with the most votes will make the finalist cut and head to the White House in the spring of 2012! Additionally, the honorees will collaborate with mtvU and MTV Act to create short features about their projects that will air on mtvU and be featured on MTV.com. Not bad, huh? And there's more...
+ And, 1 makes the Dean's List. Out of the fab five finalists, one winning team will get to host an episode of mtvU’s popular program, Dean's List, which reaches up to 9 million viewers from 750 college campuses.
Your idea could earn you all a 'dat: Presidential praise, features next to your fave celebs on MTV.com (imagine YOUR face next to Team Meatball, or something!!), AND an invite from the President to his house (whose house? HIS HOUSE). And who knows where your idea will head next! So why keep the idea to yourself? Apply, apply, apply.
