MTV EXIT is going full press in the fight against modern-day slavery — and now, with the help of Latin music superstars Calle 13 and MTV's Spanish language channel Tr3s, the focus on Latin America is loud and clear.
René and Eduardo — 2/3 of Calle 13, which with nineteen Latin Grammy Awards is the most Latin Grammified band out there (and, by the by, put autographed swag on the auction block for yet another good cause, in case you're feeling lucky) — lend their hearts, voices and (ever-so-handsome) faces to the new documentary, "Esclabos Invisibles." A collaboration between MTV EXIT and UNICEF, the film follows the story of four young victims of slavery who share their stories so that others can escape and recover from the suffering inflicted upon them. Hundreds of thousands of young people in Latin America and the Caribbean are lured into slavery out of fear for their safety or promises of better futures. They are forced into manual labor, drug trafficking and sex working. They are trapped in frightening, threatening scenarios. The truth is brutal — but if we know what's going on, we can make a difference.
