When you’re Beyonce, you make news just by sending out your first tweet, and that’s exactly what the new mom did on Thursday. Not only did she tweet, she also unveiled a snazzy new Tumblr. The world gets to see a different side of Bey in candid, personal photos of her on vacay, kickin' it with lil sis Solange, behind the scenes photo shoots and more. All in all, the photos are crazy good eye candy, and a great platform for promoting Beyonce’s redesigned website.
To celebrate B reppin’ on the social media front we wanted to talk about the charity work that she does, as she’s contributed a great deal of her time to helping people in need over the years. For starters, Mrs. Carter created a fun remix of her crazy catchy song, "Move Your Body" -- along with a music video for First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" campaign to prevent childhood obesity.
B and Jay-Z recently raised $1 million for the Shawn Carter Foundation, which is his scholarship initiative for students facing financial challenges. Since the organization launched in 2002, more than 750 applicants have received funding to go toward their education. Right on!
In 2010, Beyonce and her mom, Tina Knowles founded the Beyonce Cosmetology Center, which offers a seven month cosmetology training program for women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. You could see the mother and daughter team is teaching beauty to others, both inside and out and we love it.
And let’s not forget what Beyonce did, back in the day, when she was in Destiny’s Child. After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, the performer, her family, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams started the Survivor Foundation to assist families that were displaced or struck with disease, as a result of the natural disaster. Over the years, the organization has donated more than $2.5 million to support Katrina victims in the Houston area. Two years ago, Beyonce and the Survivor team partnered with Feeding America to provide meals to food banks across the U.S.
Well this here concludes your run-down of Beyonce's efforts to benefit humanity. We have a feeling that we'll continue to see amazing action from
Sasha Fierce B in the future.
