Bella Thorne is always looking to make the world a better place. In the past year alone she’s teamed up with both Get Schooled and The Thirst Project. Now the actress has swapped designer clothes for mermaid fins in her latest act of do-goodery with Project Mermaids, to raise awareness about the importance of keeping beaches clean.

Angelina Venturella and Chiara Salomoni, the two photographers behind the photo series, share a love of the ocean wanted to use their talents to raise proceeds for the nonprofit Save Our Beaches. The pair explain their vision on Project Mermaids’ website, which states the goal is “to show how precious our ocean and beaches are, and how well people can function in and around it, photographing models and celebrities in the water, in and around the ocean wearing mermaid tails.”

Lucky for us, Bella shared sneak peek of her shoot with fans this week:

We think Bella (and her sisters Dani and Kalili) make stunning mermaids for a cause in their bright iridescent tails and embellished-tops. Other young celebs participating in Project Mermaids include High School Musical alumna Vanessa Hudgens and singer JoJo. The photographs will make a splash next summer when they’ll be featured in an art show and compiled together in a book. In the meantime you can browse snapshots from the project on Instagram.
