I was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica, the oldest of four children (and the only girl). I was raised by a single mother in a religious Christian household in a poor neighborhood in Kingston. Growing up, I knew that there was something different about me long before I had the language to name that difference.

Finding out you have an STD isn’t easy, but you’re not alone. 1 in 2 sexually active young people will get an STD by the time they’re 25. If you’ve been tested and know you have an STD, you’re already ahead of the game by being aware of it.

To those living with the virus: your job is to keep fighting, and protect your health. And let us all gain as much knowledge and understanding of this chronic illness and those living with it as we can.

More than 1,400 people came out Wednesday night to support the 8th Annual Peace Market in New York City. The annual benefit raises money for Seeds of Peace, an organization which brings together teenagers from regions of conflict every summer in the U.S.

Hi, my name is Lauren, or Lola as most people know me as, and I have cancer. I was diagnosed with retroperitoneal undifferentiated soft tissue sarcoma on December 17, 2009 when I was only 12 1/2 years old.
