The awards shows just don’t stop. The 71st annual Golden Globe nominations are in, and both Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto are nominated for their stellar supporting actor performances.

You can catch Brad as an FBI agent gone wild in “American Hustle” and Jared as a trans woman in “Dallas Buyers Club,” but we aren’t here to judge anyone’s acting chops. Instead, we’ve got Golden Globes in our eyes for all the meaningful roles both actors choose to play.

Before his Oscar-nominated role as bipolar Pat Solitano in “Silver Linings Playbook,” Bradley Cooper didn’t know much about mental illness. But since then, he’s become an advocate for mental health in our country, and for creating an open dialogue so we can break the stigmas and stereotypes that surround it. This summer, he attended the White House’s National Conference on Mental Health to use his star power to raise awareness around an issue that affects so many Americans but is too rarely talked about.

What doesn’t Jared Leto do? He’s the frontman of popular rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, he’s majorly eco-friendy, and he’s got one of the most engaged fan bases in the world — known as the Echelon — ready to activate for any cause he’s passionate about. On top of that, Leto is causing a major stir in the film world for his portrayal of a transgendered AIDS patient in “Dallas Buyers Club.” He’s raising awareness about something we don’t talk about enough, and that’s sexual health. 1 in 2 sexually active young people will get an STD by the age of 25, which means everyone should get tested regularly.
