Remember the F Word video? It brought together oodles of big names, furiously made the rounds on social media and surely helped to spark hearts and rake in donations toward famine relief in East Africa. Feels like a lifetime ago, given the headlines that have hit since — yet it's only been a few weeks since we learned the true meaning of the F-bomb. How do we keep sustained attention on this famine -- disaster that's causing a child to die every 6 minutes and forcing 12 million at-risk victims to fight for their lives? You go 50/50.
Born of Good for Nothing, the 50/50 project (tagline: Make or Break) challenges organizations, campaigns and individuals to keep cranking out ideas that'll put fundraising at the front of people's minds before our short attention spans interrupt. There are already 42 initiatives lined up as of today, each taking a creative approach to digital advocacy. Some cool projects are Buy Tunes, Feed Africa which means you buy from iTunes and they'll donate to UNICEF and the ever-popular I Gave a Buck, Now Give a F**k aka donate a dollar and ask your friends to do the same via Twitter. Browse the full list of projects here to get involved, or go straight to your checkbook and make a donation to UNICEF. (We know you're already all over the UNICEF trick-or-treat tips ... )
The goal is to raise a million British pounds (yes, those clever Brits brainstormed the 50/50 plan), which is, oh, somewhere around $1,612,790.67 here in USD. Every buck adds up — as long as we can keep the cause front and center. Watch the video below (trust us, it's good) for inspiration, then click on the links below to get in on the solution now.
