Over the long weekend people were shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of 40-year-old actor Paul Walker. The “Fast and the Furious” star died in a car accident after a charity event for his org, Reach Out WorldWide.
Paul had been working on hurricane relief in Haiti in 2010 and “saw a gap between the availability of skilled resources and the requirement for such personnel in post-disaster situations.” This led him to founding Reach Out WorldWide (ROWW) to help those in need after disasters. ROWW has helped after the Illinois tornadoes, the Indonesia tsunami and the Chile earthquake, to give a few examples. Right now it’s really concentrating on helping the Philippines.
If you would like to honor Paul’s memory, here are three ways you can get involved with his org:
Right now ROWW is asking for money to help the people of the Philippines. You can make a one-time donation or donate monthly. Just donating $4 can provide medical supplies.
+ Buy Merchandise
The org has cool merchandise, like stickers and T-shirts. All the proceeds go to ROWW, and you can’t get better than that. If you wear a shirt or have a sticker, it also opens up the opportunity to talk to others about the org.
+ Follow on Social Media
You can also support ROWW on social media. They have a Twitter account to follow and a Facebook page to like, and their social media will keep you updated on what’s happening and new and specific ways you can get involved.
